UPDATE 7/7/09: Aaron Akbar’s wild ride in the 2009 Pitch Hit and Run has come to a close. Aaron was recently notified that his score from the Philadelphia Team Competition was not among the top 3 nationwide, and thus he will not be going to the final competition in St. Louis next week as part of the MLB All-Star festivities. It is noted that wet field conditions may have played a part in lowering the scores for all the participants in the Philadelphia competition.
WWLL is immensely proud of Aaron’s accomplishments this year, winning competitions at 3 different levels. Aaron and other WWLL players will be able to try again next year and will have a chance to compete for the 2010 PHR title in Anaheim, California. Aaron is currently playing on the WWLL 11/12 District Post-Season team.
=====
Aaron Akbar did it again, winning the 11-12 year old division of the Aquafina Pitch Hit and Run Phillies Team competition on Saturday, June 20 at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia prior to the game between the Phillies and the Baltimore Orioles. He now awaits the results of the other 6 Team Competitions around the country; the top 3 players from each division will advance to the final national competition at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July in St. Louis.
Good Luck Aaron!!!
